Lanspeary Welcomes Skaters

The City of Windsor opened Lanspeary Lions Outdoor Skating Rink today — the earliest date in the history of Parks and Recreation.

Despite unseasonably warm temperatures, the Lanspeary Park Rink at the corner of Ottawa Street and Langlois, ready for winter skating.

Michael Duben, General Manager of Client Services, Don Sadler, Executive Director of Parks and Jan Wilson, Executive Director of Recreation will be testing the ice at 10:30 am on Thursday. The media is invited – with or without skates.

Public skating begins at Thursday, Nov. 9 and continues from Monday – Friday from 4 pm – 5 pm free-of-charge. Rental opportunities are also available by calling Parks and Recreation.

Lanspeary Rink with its featured a “top hat” — a refinished steel roof protects the rink from the hot rays of the sun, allowed the Department of Parks and Recreation to get it ready early for fall skating.

The rink located in Lanspeary Park offers free public skating 4 – 5 pm Monday through Friday. Sunday public skating will begin Sunday, Dec. 3 from 1 – 3 pm.

Shinny hockey is offered on Saturdays from 8 – 10 am for all ages at $5 per person / per time slot.

Ice rental times are available from 5 – 11 pm Monday through Friday, 10 am – 11 pm on Saturday and 8 am – 1 pm and 3 – 11 pm on Sunday.
